Cookbook: Family in the Kitchen
I have always been fascinated by the connection between cooking and materials science & engineering—both blend precision, creativity, and transformation to create something remarkable.
I'm thrilled to announce the publication of the second edition of my cookbook, Family in the Kitchen, a project that has been 25 years in the making, well before my journey into materials science. This book is extra special because it was created with five incredible individuals who have shaped my life: My lovely mother (Tila Nahjavi), My lovely mother-in-law (Lida Ashtari), My lovely wife (Yalda Atri), and my dear friends, Sara Khosravi and Baharak Rastegari.
Now, as a professor at the University of Washington Materials Science & Engineering department, I see even deeper parallels between the two fields. Whether in the kitchen or the lab, success often comes down to understanding ingredients, processing conditions, and interactions—and, of course, a bit of experimentation!
